Middle of discs stutter then freeze…help.

I have a BenQ DW1620A burner. I am currently burning YUDEN000-T02-00 +R discs at 4x.

I rip and make the backup with DVD shrink 3.2 and burn it to DVD using DVD Decrypter. I only backup the main movie, so compression is typically not a factor.

Some movies play fine…others, in my sons PS2, start jerking and then freeze about 15-20 minutes into the movie. I have tried another burner… MicroAdvantage with the same results. I have also used Memorex 4x dvd –r with the same results. I use the verify option on DVD Decrypter and have no errors. What am I doing wrong???? Any suggestions?

Ps2 arent the best for playing dvdr especially the older models,have you tried playing them in a standalone dvd player?

That BenQ drive is the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen. One of my friends has had nothing but trouble with it, and I can find very few nice things to say about it online.

It may be the drive. The media is some of the best.

Then again, PS2 is not a DVD player, not really. It is picky with media.

Play the DVDs on another player, not the PS2, before you look at swapping drives.

Hey...my bad...it works great in my JVC player...I was just wondering if it was the burn or what...because it plays fine for about 15 then starts freezing and then shuts down...I was just thinking that if the player is cool with the first 15 minutes of the dvd...it has to be the burn or something that disrupts the play.
