I took this test over the weekend... There were a few questions that I wasn't sure about. Anybody know where I can get a copy of this test? Know where I can find a discussion forum about this? Anybody know all the correct answers? Here are a couple I wasn't sure about...

    1) Two pictures of windmills that are exactly the same except one has 4 blades and one has 6 blades. The blades are all the same size. Which one does more work? Both the same?

    2) Two pictures of grandfather clocks that are exactly the same except one has a longer pendulum. Which one ticks faster? Both the same?

There were others, but of course I can't remember them now....

    1.I think 6 probably.
    2. Ticks or moves?I believe they are supposed to tick at the same rate. The longer has to move farther in the same amount of time so it will move quicker

Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

the answer to # 1 is 6 but the wording is a little off. it will have more power or the abliity to do more work..

the answer to #2 is the shorter will move faster like tick.tick.tick. as opposed to the longer one that will go tick-----tick----tick.. but it will have different gear ratios to move the second hands at the proper speeds

The test is given to job applicants by prospective employers.

Copied from a website with information about the test:

The Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test (BMCT) is an assessment that measures an individual's aptitude to learn mechanical skills. The BMCT has 68 multiple choice items that present simple, frequently encountered mechanisms and situations. While not based on specific training, the BMCT does require a working knowledge of basic mechanical operations and the application of physical laws. It is a timed test to be completed in 30 minutes or less.

The BMCT focuses on spatial perception and tool knowledge rather than manual dexterity. It is especially well-suited for assessing job candidates for positions that require a grasp of the principles underlying the operation and repair of complex devices. Two alternate forms of the BMCT are available: Form S and Form T.

What the Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test Measures

The BMCT reports the test taker's performance in terms of percentile rank in comparison to 14 different normative groups on the following dimension: Mechanical Comprehension

Not so sure about different lengths but I know a pedulum will keep the same time regardless of distance traveled.

not exacly,,, it will travel the same distance in the same about of time. but one that is 1000000 feet long will move from one point to the oposite point in a lot longer time than one that is only 1 inch long but again it will travel 1 inch in the same amount of time.. again thats y i mentioned the gear ratio thing
