  1. Just looked thru the user manuel on the DV-578A, and it lists on the cover that its the manuel for the DV-575A as well. What I'd like to know is whether this is basically the same player. This site lists the 575A as being able to play back +R and DL formats, but the manuel says it only supports -R.

Found the manuel on the Crutchfield.com website in case anyone is interested.

Thanks in advance for the info.

PS. If your not a fan of this player, List the one you like best. My old KLH KD-1220 is acting funky and needs to be retired. Since the DL format came out I also wanted to try out that format.

  2. They are probably pretty similar with one or the other not having the exact same fetures. Many manufacturers group several similar items in a series together in one owner's manual.

Although I don't know the model number right of hand now, there is a "cousin" of the 578A in the European market that has DIVX and several other great features missing from the American version. If the European version wasn't region two and had a different power supply, it would be an awesome player over here in my opinion.

  3. Update, a new Pioneer DV-588A was introduced at CES to be available in April 2005 with DIVX and WMA support like its European cousin released when the 578A was released here in the States little less than a year or so ago.
