is there a way to combine two avi files into one file so it is easier to burn
like any program or something

Just to add. If your end product is DVD, you are much better off not combining the AVI files. When you add each of them into your authoring program, they will play seamlessly in the final DVD.
However if you want to just combine them for other purposes, Virtualdub does it well. Open your first AVI, then go to 'Append' and add more. You can then save the result by direct copy.
