  1. I am in need of some new discs, used ritek go4's in the past with no probs but thin I will go with the TY's this time. Do they print on as nicely as the Riteks.

  2. Oh yeah just one last question; is it better to burn with TDA's write feature, or with Nero 6.X? Is one more solid and reliable than the other?

And I got those TY Verbatim discs this morning. I'll give them a scorch tonight and see if the results are any better (the faults on the Ritek discs manifested themselves almost immediately).

  3. Here's an interesting development. Those Maxell discs that I was complaining about earlier (the reason for this thread, in fact), well I'd bought two packs of them. After the trouble (RitekG04; coasters) I wasn't planning on opening the second pack, but thought what the hell. So I burned one of them and it turned out OK (as did the previous ones to begin with, so I wasn't very excited). But then it didn't show any signs of being faulty, even after playing it several times. So I decided to check the media code (I'd assumed it was Ritek again). It's Taiyo Yuden! TYG01!

Is this a common occurrence? Why on earth do the manufacturers range from using such poor media codes to such quality ones, indiscriminately? I bought both packs at the same time, for the same price, after all. Seems very odd to me.

I'm now using the Verbatim TY discs someone recommended earlier (thanks for that!) and getting faultless burns, and now wouldn't consider using any other media, especially since they're priced very competitively.
