I've got a Mintek MDP-1770. I've had it for quite a while and a few months back I ripped some kids DVD's we have and saved them as .avi files. I burned them to DVD+RW and they play just fine. This allows us to carry one DVD with multiple (5 or 6) movies without endangering the originals. Extremely nice for swapping them out in the van on long trips.
I'm trying to do it again, but I'm running into a problem. It doesn't seem to matter how I burn them, the Mintek won't read them. It just says "Unknown Disc".
I'm using the exact same DVD's I used before. In fact, they are from the same spindle.
I've tried using Roxio and Nero. With Nero I've tried "DVD-ROM (ISO)", "DVD_ROM (UDF)", and "DVD_ROM (IDF/ISO)". All of them give me the exact same error.
When I put the DVD in that works, it's recognized one of two ways depending on what software I use to check it out. Either "ISO9660, Joliet, UDF" or "UDF/ISO 9660 (mode 1)".
Any ideas on how I need to burn these for them to work?
Also, these are RW's, but I can't erase them. I'm using an NEC 2510 Dual Layer Burner and the DVD's are TEON DVD+RW.
As a test, I made a copy of one of the working DVD's and it worked just fine. This tells me it's not a driver/hardware problem, it's simply something I'm doing wrong when creating a new one.
Please help me out if you can. I'm going to be on the road a LOT in the next week or two w/the family and this is big deal. hehe
Thanks

Did you bitset your discs to -ROM the first time. Some drives don't like +RW but if you bitset them to -ROM they work fine.

Just ran it. Here's what it says about a working DVD:

Well first thing is that they are +R's not +RW so thats why you can't erase them.
Its not bitsetting as this disk reports +R as the Book Type.
Do the same with one that doesn't work. Things to look out for are Format Type and Book / Media type. There all a bit different these DivX players. Mine won't read UDF only ISO.
This one recorded as a UDF 1.02 so check the one that don't work to see if its different. -
Some of the ones I've been trying have been RW. I've tried (wasted) 11 so far. Here's from a couple of them:
This is a DVD-R

There's got to be something I did differently before.
Anyone here got a Mintek 1770 and know what settings to use? -
Sorry for bumping my own thread
but I'm really lost here. I've gone through close to 15 DVD's at this point just trying to figure out what I did before.
The thing is, I don't remember doing anything special. -

check settings in Nero under DVD-ROM (UDF)
also, not sure which version of Nero you're using, but I have had much success using 5.5.10.xx, and checking the "Force DVD-Video compatibility mode (required for XBox) under DVD-ROM (UDF) and (UDF/ISO)just a thought
