basically take brasso and apply it on the dvd/cd covering the full surface area. let it dry a little. and then rub it out preferabley with optical clothes. after you get all the brasso off spray the disc with armor all and rub that in. basically giving you a new disc. everything ive ever used or seen has been pure crap compared to this solution

I tried Skipdoctor and was entirely unimpressed. A couple discs wound up worse off

Is this brasso and armor toxic to the touch?

When cleaning this brasso and armor all off do you rub in a circular motion around the disc or from the end to the edge of the cd/dvd in a straight manner.

There is this stuff at a used cd store near me called Perma Spin.

What you do is put this pink glue like substance and drop little bit on parts of the data side cd or dvd. Then get a kleenex and rub in a circular motion all around the cd or dvd. Then get another kleenex and rub again in a circular motion to get rid of the substatance.

I asked them to show me in person. I was there and listening to a cd that was skipping they did the steps and it fixed it. Same thing with a dvd it was skipping when i was watching it and and they cleaned it and was playing perfect.

No. Completely safe. Brasso is an abrasive liquid used for polishing silver and brass (found in grocery and hardware stores). Armorall is a liquid used to shield UV and to preserve vinyl, leather and rubber on cars. Both are found everywhere here

  9. Are there any instructions on how to use and where to get this brasso on the web?

I know how to use it but I've never tried it for DVDs, so I'll let glock answer this.

i dunno if there are any real instructions. you could try a google. but i just apply the brasso and let it dry maybe 10-15 min. rub it out in a circular motion until every last bit of it is gone. then apply armor all and basically buff the disc. instead of trying to repair a scratched layer by adding on it bascially takes a thin layer off the disc so you can only do this so many time. but it works, and it works good.

BTW, make sure it's Brasso, and not another brand or type of polish. I made the mistake of getting something I thought was functionally equivalent and it put visible grooves and scratches on the disk.

Use a TINY bit, smaller than a dime, applied with a damp cloth (NOT a paper towell). Let it dry, then carefully buff the stuff off with as little rubbing as possible.

  15. Thanks for all your replies. What type of cloth does everyone use? Anyone have any links to some good cloth?

    Thanks.

  16. http://www.skipdoctor.com/ is the only thing that worked for me and I wasted my money on a lot of other shit. Only 2 tips - keep the disc wet at all times and do not do too many passes (I think 10 was about tops-although 2 usually is plenty), basically just read the instructions.

I use those cheap cotton shop towels you can get at any auto parts store.
Whatever you do don't use paper towels...they can scratch and leave dye on the surface.

  19. Isn't toilet paper too rough? A salesman at radio shack told me the only thing you should use is the skip doctor becuase using any substance like brasso can ruin the DVD? Is that true or is he full of BS? How does brasso fix the DVD, I am just nervous to try it.

    Thanks.
