Why is it that a movie, Starsky and Hutch, lists Dolby Digital and DTS on the end credits but the DVD was only done with Dolby and no DTS whatsoever? This isn't the first time I've noticed this but I just wonder why they wouldn't just put both audio choices on the DVD if the movie was done with them already.

Hello,
This was asked awhile ago somewhere in the forum.
Simple answer:
Movie theaters require more soundtrack options than dvd releases. They have to pay more to get licenses and encode in DTS than if they just encode in Dolby Digital.
And SPACE is another issue. DTS is quite large. By using a smaller audio format like dolby digital they can include more bonus material and/or increase the video bitrate.

Too lazy to redo credits. I don't blame them a bit.
