    2 more cents.. are you sure that the watermarks are not somthing PhotoShop is introducing? You did say that the watermarks seemed to be related to their file name. Are you using a "Full" version of PhotoShop? What does the CS stand for? If its a trial version or complementry version that may be your problem.

    After version 7 they changed the version to CS
    Yes they are full versions, not trails and not warez
    I got the same sesults in 7 and CS.
    Think I still have an old version of PSP somewhere, might fire it up to see

    Really doesn't matter now that I have the negatives, even though I haven't tried to scan the negative to see if the watermark is there.

    negatives can't be watermarked.
