    can I somehow turn this off? it looks horrible when there's a lot of movement...

    it looks like a need a deinterlacing filter? can anyone reccomend a good one?

    edit:

    will I get the same result if I do the filtering after I have captured? figure that would make the capturing a little smoother...

    In this case, deinterlace may be required. I believe new DIVX and XVID support interlace, and play back properly too. No personal experiece, however, as I consider those formats crap quality.
