  1. I usually do my mpeg file using ulead, then burned it using nero. In my DVD player it work fine. but in some player, it won`t read or there is delay in playback

  2. For maximum compatibility, you would need to replicate discs, a technology that hollywood uses.

As aanaravs stated, DVD players are only required to playback pressed media, which is what commercial DVDs use. When it comes to burned media compatibility is generally very good but can still be hit or miss on some players. To ensure maximum compatibility you should check the Media section of this site to see which brands of media are rated the highest in regards to overall compatibility.

This could also be chalked up to your authoring software. I personally am not very trusting of Nero with DVDs. You may have better luck with something else.

Using high quality disks will increase compatibility.

I disagree, just cause a disc is expensive does not mean that it will play in all players.

No one said use expensive media, just high quality. There is a difference.

The two most compatible would be either -R, or bitset +R, if you want to cover both older players and new players. If you are mainly concerned with newer players, then any high quality media should be OK.
