  1. Ok here is the break down. I want to put an entire movie on my phone but in about 5-7 chapters. What is the easiest way to rip the DVD as a whole or otherwise and then break it into 5-7 sections to convert to a .3gp file. I know how to convert it to 3gp but am looking for a definitine way to rip and divide.

    Thanks in advance

Rip using: DVDDecrypter or Smart Ripper (where one fails, the other usually works).
This will get unencrypted VOBs etc. on to your hard drive.

    Convert as you normally do...

Hmmmm..... Not sure. I've never needed to do this.

I'm guessing it depends on what you want to convert from (i.e. what format - AVI, MPG etc.) when converting to your .3gp files...

Load the ripped version into TMPGEnc DVD Author (or any other authoring tool), delete the currently-defined chapter points, and create new chapter points. Output to your hard drive then convert this to 3gp.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Sounds good. I have software that will concert ANYTHING to 3gp so the format it turns it to is not a problem. Will DVDdecrypter simply rip it as a whole DVD and leave it intact so that I can create chapters?

DVD Decrypter can output a chapter list or split a chapter, but then you would have to rip 5-7 chapters individually. With the chapter list you could create split points in an AVISynth script, specify ranges when encoding, etc. Really depends how you encode.

Scrap all that, just had a look at DVD Decrypters options and you can just enable split by chapter under the IFO options.

Rip using DVDDecrypter or smartripper in File mode, and rip the whole DVD to your Hard Drive. You then point your authoring software (which must be able to accept IFOs, VOBS etc I might add) to the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, which should give you a selection of the title(s) you wish to use.

TMPGEnc DVD Author can definitely do this by using the Add DVD Video option, and has a fully-functional 30-day trial.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Hi nikolasmor, Using Xilisoft DVD Ripper rips the DVD to a entire file by selecting "infinite" as output volume, and then using Xilisoft Video Converter rip the ripped file to 3gp format. For details, you may view http://www.xilisoft.com

  11. but whatever you do you wont fit an entire movie on your phone unless you resize to 120x76 (LOTR perhaps??)
