  1. I have several questions relating to the MPEG4 capabilitues of my DMR-E100H.

Supposably it has the ability to record MPEG4 to the HDD or to convert existing video on the HDD/DVD from MPEG2->4 and write it directly to an SD card. The resulting file on the SD card is an .ASF file.

Is an ASF file MPEG4 is or is something else?

The DMR-E100H will play the resulting .ASF file from the SD card. But it I put it in my PC it will not. Windows media player shows a preview of the first frame but the movie won't play because it cannot find a CODEC for audio format tag 45.

Has anyone manage to create MPEG4s on a DMR-E100H and get them to play on a PC? If so whats the secret?

I had a similar problem until I installed this codec pack...

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=ASF_Codec

This includes all Microsoft MPEG4 codecs V1,V2,V3

And yes, the resulting ASF file from the panasonic dmr-e100h is a MPEG4 (.V2 I think)

    Hope this helps...
    Good luck!
