  3. You are indeed correct. However, I have used older versions of Fast DVD Copy and it works as advertised. See... I have dual DVD burners and I like the simple process of inserting the original DVD in the top drive and the blank DVD+R in the bottom drive, clicking the copy button and walking away. It's quite nice. That being said, if quality compression is what I'm looking for, DVD2One is the best. The baby sitting of the 3 step process gets annoying though. Since Fast DVD Copy 3.1 now has a new compression scheme, I'm wondering if it is any better quality and if it works any faster. As we all know, Fast DVD Copy is usually slow compared to the 3 step process.

  4. I would use the 2 step process of MTR and Popcorn. I've been unimpressed with Fast DVD Copy. Most of the DVD's have problems and compatibility is pretty low.

If you need more control, DVD2one is the way to go, but if you want ease of use, MTR and Popcorn can't get much easier. Popcorn quality is good and compatibility is the same as using DVD2one and Toast.

  5. I tried Popcorn and was VERY unimpressed with the one and only copy I made (Garfield the movie). The end result had frame skipping and jumpy playback on my Sony player. The same movie done with the trio (MTR, DVD2One and Toast) played back perfectly. I've read enough negative feedback for Fast DVD Copy to choke a donkey. How 'bout some positive. Especially from version 3.1's new compression...

My question is: if you have Toast already, why buy Popcorn (other than to be a cognescenti, of course)?

  7. Popcorn compresses AND burns all in one step.
