    Hi!

I started to look around the HowTO, FAQ, Forums, etc. but I fail to find answers to my basic questions because I am drowned in an ocean of information!

Where is the basic HowTO? The only thing I wanted to know was how to transfer my video that I take with my Hi8 cam to a DVD... I have a PC and a DVD burner. Now I don't want to
lose video quality with my Hi8 cam, what kind of card do I need? Do I need a sound card for
the sound or not? If so, how do I syncrhonize it with the picture? What kind of software
does it take? Newbie questions, but too much information is like none at all...

    HELP!

    Hello,

The "How To" section is in green on the left of the screen

    https://www.videohelp.com/capture

That link above is for capture cards

Cards like my huappauge wintv pvr250 have sound capture in them so no need for an external sound card to record. But models do vary.

If you get more specific questions feel free to post again.

as yoda said use a guide on the left of the screen.. how to go from cam to dvd would be a good one to look for.. search is good.. but to make it easer for you.. look in the guides.. just start basic..

and if you are transfering analog video.. IE not DV tape.. then yes you will need to plug in the video and the audio from camera.. the cap software will sync it for you..

if its digital then firewire will pe the way to go and it will have audio and video in the file..

both ways you will need to then covert to DVD complient files..

so first look for how to cap onto computer ten look for how to convert to dvd..

all can be found to your left.
