    Raid 5 native to XP.... interesting....

    http://www6.tomshardware.com/storage/20041119/index.html

    Not quite the speed benefits of a $200+ Raid controller... but it fault tolerant! And you can't beat the price!

    Anyone brave enough to try it out???????

    I wonder how much CPU/memory this setup will use?
    Also how would MS service packs and weekly hotfixs effect this? Could one hotfix destroy your raid array....

    I've been running RAID 5 on my W2K server (4 200GB drives), it requires some resources, but even pulling video over GbE, it's still not stressing. Should be just at least halfway decent with XP.

    You don't need SCSI for RAID. It's BETTER with SCSI, but doable with IDE.

    Yeah but SCSI requires a HBA anyway and those with RAID functions don't cost that much more than just those without so I don't think this would really apply to that.

    200GB = IDE or SATA

    SCSI sizes are roughly 18, 36, 74, 147, and 300GB.
