Once in a while it happens that the converted mpg + menu don't fit on the DVD.
couldn't there be a way to give a warning before starting the process?
Similar like in Nero, which shows me who full my media is.

it is something i will be implementing but it will be a guideline only (i.e an educated guess)
SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
VOB2MPG PRO, Extract mpegs from your DVDs - with you in control! -
to be on the safe side, i make my assets a total of 4 gigs...... for instance... if i take an SGA episode that is xvid... i load it into mainconcept encoder and adjust the bitrate and setting to make it an mpeg2 about 1 gig in size... so that when i put 4 episodes on it, its 4 gigs in assets....
if you do svcd movies, you may have to mess with the audio type.. from layer 2 to stereo.. layer 2 adds alot of size versus stereo.... but it depends on your taste...
or you could just create your high quality DVD files and if they are like 5 gigs or so then use Intervideo Dvd copy to select the folder and make it fit on a dvd.... i use this because it maintains quality pretty good...
