I have been downloading for some time and burning to dvd, but I have just come across this file extension which the computer does not recognise:
filename .001 File
this is repeated all the way to
filename .094 File
What should I do with them.
Cheers

open the first 001 with winrar, http://www.rarsoft.com/ .

it's also possible....especially if .001 is last part of full name of file, that it was video split with a program call HJSplit (I think that's the correct name)
-
there are a few programs that split/join files.. files with extention 001 002 etc are mainly done on usenet.. but thats besides the point.. any filejoiner will rejoin them.. i used one called joiner32 in the past.. that will join them to one main file.. and that might be an iso or zip or something.. maybe a movie file too..
but you prolly already knew that huh? haha..

That also happens when you run a hard disk utility and it finds and repairs a file. Some of them use the 3-digit numerical designator as a default extension.

Try renaming the files and see what happens...
.001 File to 001.avi
.001 File to 001.mpg -
