  1. I am looking for a freeware program that I can use with windows 98 SE to create dvd menus and author dvd as well.
I was using tmpgenc dvd author and it was great ..but my trial expired.
I dont have the 70 bucks to get a true copy of this program....
So I am looking for a program that will allow me to add multiple mpg files and create dvd's with menus.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

    Hello,

Try dvdauthorgui, dvdbuilder and other freeware author programs found in the tools section on the left of the screen

Plus you can find cheaper programs then tmpgenc... and also try finding older editions of author programs at stores like best buy (the old versions get discounted heavily ).

  4. DVDauthor will do it for you. Your problem will be FAT32. When it does the mux stage, it creates a single file with audio and video which oftentimes goes beyond the 4 gb limit. So keep your movies short enough (or the bitrate low enough) and you can do it. You can almost get two hours. When you get the video_ts folder done, use Imgtool Classic (freeware) to make your iso image. Make sure you set it to write segmented iso file (lib). DVD Decrypter will burn the iso.

And don't forget DVDStyler & Gui For DVDAuthor. I will have to test out DVDBuilder it's a new one!

There are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.

I would recommend IFOEdit, GUI for dvdauthor & dvdauthorgui.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I am interested in using DVDAuthor and GUI for DVDAuthor. I downloaded the dvdauthor-0.6.11_win32.zip from the tools page. I've searched everywhere for information on how to install this but can't find anything anywhere. I'm sure it's obvious to most but I'm unsure. I assume I just need to extract all files to a folder C:\Program Files \DVDAuthor\ and that's it but wanted to confirm if this is correct before I screw something up.

Unless you plan to use dvdauthor from the command line, the dvdauthor-0.6.11_win32.zip will probably be useless to you, since it is the command line program only. There are many guis for dvdauthor, that actually package everything needed with them.

    DVDStyler
    GUI for DVDauthor
    DVDAuthorGUI

All 3 of these guis have a installer program, that will install everything you need.

Thanks Luquid. I did not realize the GUIs included the DVDAuthor program.
