    Help!!

I was told to use Virtualdubmod to edit out commercials and re-encode my MPEG2 TV caps as Virtualdub didn't support it. I went to Source Forge and got the latest release (1.5.10.1) but when I try to use it, there's no drop down list for audio to the right of the one for video and I can't seem to find any place in the program to enable it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    kyleinct

In VirtualDubMod the Streams -> Stream list menu is where you find the audio stuff.

If your file is mpeg2 already then the easiest way to cut the commercials is to use mpeg-vcr. It's fairly fast and will not reencode your file.

Yes, using VDubMod to edit mpeg2 was a bad advice. You can only save as AVI or frameserve to encoder to reencode as mpeg2 again, reducing quality.
Womble mpeg vcr is the best option, as freebird says. Cuttermaran is often recommended too.
Or if you are going to create a DVD, you can cut stuff out in TMPGEnc DVD Author...

Streams -> Stream list -> right click on the audio stream -> select full processing mode -> select compression -> select and configure audio codec.

I assume you're converting to DivX/XviD with MP3 audio, otherwise you're definitely better off with an MPEG editor like the others suggested. VideoReDo is another excellent MPEG editor.

Without filters it shouldn't be choppy. The filtered preview can be choppy. Select a small section and convert it. Then play the resulting AVI. If the AVI isn't choppy, everything is fine.
