That's really not true - I don't think anyone would be on here complaining this much if the icon was only there for a few seconds. The icon will be there as long as there is another angle to switch to. If there's multi-angles for the whole disc, the icon's there for the whole disc.
It is possible that the way the DVD is produced may have something to do with the duration of the icon, but I really don't know. On discs I've played on mine, its there as long as you can use the feature.

same problem here... I just learned to ignore it. First time I saw it I hit every friggin button around trying to get it off, no go. weird thing was, the dvd didnt have other angles... I hit the angle button and nothing changed... but yeah, I try to ignore it now.

[I know this would be an inconvience, but you might want to simply rip the original retail DVD to your computer and make it a single angle production. Then burn it back to a DVDr and live happily ever after. It seems crazy to have to do that, but if Philips does not take care of this it might be the only realistic solution. It certainly is an annoying "feature".

Best solution, but remember not to include the subtitle track when you strip the angle you want or you will have one angle and the icon will still show up (the icon appers to reside in the subtitle track). I made this mistake once with a concert dvd. I had to re-do it and unckick the subtitle streams in dvdshrink. -
Nothing I try on my player will make the angle-indicator display go away. You'd think (as on MOST players) that the icon would only ever appear if one were to PUSH the angle button, and that it would go away after a couple seconds. This could be bad if used on a plasma screen, or something prone to burn in, if you were to watch an entire 2-hour multi-angle track, that angle icon would be burned onto the screen!
Philips needs to change this behavior. -
This is ridiculous, ive had no issues with this player, but this is a sticker.
my clerks animated dvd shows the damn angle display the whole time.
However, my clerks X dvd, which has a alternate video commentary angle, it doesnt show up.
either way, this pisses me off, and phillips needs to fix it. -
I know this is an old thread but has there ever been a way to fix this yet? Most DVDs I have only have a second angle for the first chapter but it's still annoying to have that big icon sitting there during a movie.
