  1. I have video burned from my standalone dvd recorder (Liteon)
I want to import it to my computer and edit and burn a dvd copy of it.
But I don't even know how to find out what format it is already in. Or what I need to convert to. I have a Dell with a dvd rom and dvd burner.

    Thank you

  3. LBCork - once you do the guide above to edit your content, you'll need to use some software to 'author' your DVD, that is take the edited content and put it back into a format for the DVD (possibly with a menu you create, but this would not be required)..some basic software should have come w/ the DVD burner that you should be able to use for this step..

Highly unlikely. But TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR should have a fully working demo that can be used for a short period.

  5. I will try that tonight, thank you.
Is the type of format the recorder burns in the reason I can't just copy dvd to dvd? It always says error reading data. Something with the VOB file?
I hope it works, I'll let you know.

No, if you like the disc as is, this will work:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdcopy/dvd5/dvd5.htm

or if you have BOTH DVD-ROM and DVD burner, and on OPPOSITE IDE channels, a program like Nero/Prassi/RecordNow, will do disc-to-disc on-the-fly copies. Few people have this setup.

  7. I do have dvd rom and a burner, but I don't know what it means to be on an opposite IDE channels?
I have Record Now, but it doesn't work when trying to copy the dvd.
I also downloaded a trial of Nero, and tried to copy dvd to dvd and a data disc (just in case that was what I needed to do) both almost finished, then said error, unable to read data.

I then tried to import my video into MyDVD but some chapters of the dvd won't import, and I can't fit as much video on the dvd as I wanted.

I also thought it could have something to do with the dvd I made, because I set it to record 4 hours of video on my LiteOn. And my empty dvd is not a dual layer, and only holds a smaller amount.

    Thank you !!!

  8. When I followed the guide above and got to the end of the instructions it said the disc should read as a DVD5, mine said Part Version: 2, does that mean it's a DVD9?

What is the best guide to follow to copy those?

  10. The DVD5 copying guide said if the disc didn't read as a Part Version: 5, then this guide can't be used. I tried it anyway and it produced an error.
