I am looking for a recommended program to convert mp3 to wave. Something, fairly simple and fast. How will this sound since basically I will be taking a compressed format and uncompressing it? At least that is what I think I am doing, if I understand correctly. I want to convert the mp3 to wave , so I can use it in my video editing program that will not accept mp3 format. rikit

Audacity will probabaly do it. I don't know if it's better / worse or faster / slower than Goldwave. But it is free...

I generally use Headac3he because I use it for everything else. CDEX is great. My personal recommendation is SCMPX.

Very fast high quality, also converts mp2, batch processing, very fast high quality mp3 encoder, player and integrates with TMPGenc, runs on anything from a 486 upwards, very tiny and compact. A marvelous piece of programming.

OK, I'll third CDEx. The sound quality will be exactly as the MP3 - the degradation happens when you go from an uncompressed (wav) format to a compressed (mp3) - not in the other direction.
