  1. I've tried multiple converting software, all to no avail in my attempts to convert Quicktime .MOV files to DVD files VOB... is there actually a converter that will work work in this conversion process? The last converter I tried was "WinAVI" that preports to do the conversion but it simply freezes the PC regardless of how I try. Any suggestions?

  3. I tried to convert to AVI this time using WinAVI, but the same result... Program just freezes up. Could the size of the file, which is 600mb, be causing the problem trying to initiate it? Also, that LG is a pretty cool site... but didn't see any converting programs in the site?

  4. I have had great luck converting MOVs using Rad Video Tools. Convert the MOV to AVI and then you can encode them to MPG2 using TMPGEnc or some other encoder, as Baldrick points out above.

  5. There is a quicktime plugin for TmpGenc that hs worked well for me in the past. Doesn't always work with quicktime audio though, I suppose it depends on the audio codec used.

  6. Great, I'll give those a shot... thanks Guys!

  7. Bugster- One thing I don't like about using TMPGEnc for this is that it always ends up choking and reporting illegal decimal errors. Rad Tools doesn't care, it just chews through and spits out an AVI that converts flawlessly.

  9. Guys... I really am having a hard time with this project and I'm baffeled.

Can you take a look at this url... http://mysite.verizon.net/res7dhyg/id3.html

down the page about half way, is a "FTAA" titled File to download of 600mb. Is this possibly NOT a .mov file? because every time I try to convert it to .avi or anything else, regardless of what converting software I use, it simply freezes up my software or the PC itself. Any ideas?

I'm not downloading a 600MB file. Sorry, too much.
But I WILL say to use GSPOT and verify it!

have you tried River past Video Cleaner? My Nikon digital camera records movies to .mov format, and this app was the only way (and I really tried each and every method described here first!) I could turn it into an AVI.

One of the RAM files won't open for me either.
Maybe the files on the site are corrupted?

Video Cleaner had no trouble with it...
clip.divx5.avi It's low res and low bit rate, but...

    @Mark97213:
I was able to produce DVD compliant MPG-video and audio files for DVD authoring using Quicktime-Pro to convert first the audio-track to a WAV-file and then TMPGEnc with QTreader.vfp for the conversion of the video track from the MOV-file and the MPEG-audio-track from the WAV-audio-track.
This sounds a little complicated but the QTReader.vfp while converting the video-tack without a problem usually cannot properly convert the audio-track from a MOV-file.

  15. Well I did download and try GSpot and although it did Identify the file Stat as a "File is Quicktime (.MOV/QT) but, it will not display the codec, I assume because GSpot doesn't support that format.

I'll down load River past Video Cleaner in a while and the other suggestions by Schmendrick & mats.hogberg. The files on the site do appear to be valid as they are playing on the site...!

The file format of that movie is:
Video: Sorenson Video 3, 360x240, true color
    Audio: IMA 4:1 , Stereo, 44100 Hz
    14,97 fps
Most likely both quicktime specific codecs.

I just found out that you can convert this MOV-file just only
using TMPGEnc together with the QRreader.vfp plugin.
If you can't find the plugin you can quickly find a link
    with google.
