  1. This has happened on only two of my home videotapes. I convert using Windv, sav wav with VirtualDub, then convert to MPEG2 with TMPGEnc. In the middle of the tapes the audio cuts out; the converted MPEG just goes silent. It's been at a scene change both times, but I've not messed with the settings on my video camera. Any idea what's the problem?

    Frameserve
The process of creating a direct video "link" from one application to another. For example a video editor application to standalone mpeg encoder so you don't need a plugin or create a temporary video file.
Now how do you frameserve for bad frames ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

If TMPEG is set for 2-pass VBR, there will be a significant lag at 50%.

There's also something about increasing your DirectShow filter for TMPEG. I believe it is under the "plug-ins" tab but I am not sure. I am away from my home machine currently.
Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision.
