I need advice on getting the best quality out of backing up my DVD especially the movie.

Do you recommend simply backing up the DVD and lowering the compression of everything else besides the movie ei) subpicture, unnessary audio/video
    or
do you find Reauthoring the movie is better?

What is the link to Reauthoring with DVDshrink?

Do you find smooth, sharp(default), or maximum sharpness best for most movies?

Thanks so much to anyone who answers all of my questions. I appreciate it immensely.

I have been using sharp(default) for all my movies since I saw a difference in quality. It takes longer, but I can see the difference. I lower the compression on the extras only, this way the movie is not so compressed.

    Hope this helps.

  3. I do the same thing every time:

Backup movie only in re-author keeping the 5ch, 2ch and 2ch Director Commentary and english subs. If it is too big and needs transcoding, then I use Deep Analysis and Maximum Smoothness.

    Works for me!

p.s. If i want extras, i reauthor them on separate disk.

    Thank you for responding.

What is the link to reauthor using DVD shrink?

Also what noticable difference did you find mn072065 by using Sharp(default)?

In other words is there any great difference between backing up with regular Backup using DVDShrink versus REauthoring with DVDshrink?

Try Alfonic's new guide for Shrink 3.2 (current version). Re-authoring is covered at the end.
