Just about anything from Cheap Trick or Rush. See them live if you can. Their records suck compared to the live stuff.

Rush, I think they sound just like thier albums. I seen them years ago, I could not distinguish if they were live or Mili Vanili. I'm sure there performances are live. Ask Elton That's why i like this band very tight sound and from my home town of YYZ -garman [/quote]

    David Coverdale
    Steve Vai
    Adrian Vandenberg
    Rudy Sarzo
    Tommy Aldridge

That was the lineup when I saw them back in the late 80s or early 90s

Rookie, maybe you can answer this one. I've heard booth versions of "blinded by the light" Bruce/Manfred. Wich do you find more appealing. I know Manfred's recieves much airplay rather than Bruce's version. I do happen to like manfred manns version, seems more musical than bruce's. What do you or anybody else thinks? -garman

Springsteen wrote a lot of great songs, that being one of 'em...but I tend to favor the versions done by other artists rather than his (though he puts on great live shows)

There are 2 different versions by Manfred Mann (Chris Thompson on vocals) - the longer version is much better, IMO.

I also prefer Patti Smith's version of Springsteen's Because The Night...but I'd take Bruce's version over Natalie Merchant's.

I think I like Bruce Springsteen's own version of Fire over The Pointer Sisters' - but both were good.

Some more reference to Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac here -

Chris Thompson (wasn't an original member of Manfred Mann) formed another band in the late '70s, called Night - and shared vocals with Stevie Lange (another Stevie)
Night covered Walter Egan's Hot Summer Nights - which Lindsey Buckingham produced, sang and played on...and Stevie Nicks also did vocals on that album along with another Egan album (Not Shy and Fundamental Roll )
Egan also made it public that he and Stevie had an affair in those days and he wrote the song Magnet And Steel about her (she sings backup on that as well).

Just the other day I made a compilation CD for the car. I intended it to be good for the daily commute, as well as a motivation CD just before playing sport. It MUST be played LOUUUUUUUD, too

    Here's the track listing :

    The Final Countdown - Europe
Eye Of The Tiger - Survivor
Prisoner Of Society - The Living End
    Enter Sandman - Metallica
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
    Engel - Rammstein
    Last Resort - Papa Roach
    Dammit - Blink 182
Living On A Prayer - Bon Jovi
    Longview - Green Day
    Du Hast - Rammstein
Chop Suey - System Of A Down
    Basket Case - Green Day
    Here To Stay - Korn
    Faint - Linkin Park
More Human Than Human - White Zombie
    Got The Life - Korn
Working Class Man - Jimmy Barnes
Killing In The Name Of - Rage Against The Machine

    If in doubt, Google it.

    Just thought of some more:

Do You Wanna Touch - Joan Jett
    Highway Song - Blackfoot
Got Me Under Pressure - ZZ Top
    Lick It Up - Kiss

I would've picked Hell Is For Children for Pat Benatar

and I Love Playin' With Fire for Joan Jett (Blackhearts' version is good but better when it was recorded by The Runaways in Jett's early days)

Another one for Joan Jett - The French Song (the menage a trois song 8) )

One of my roommates in college was the niece of Cheap Tricks Drummer,Bunny. In 1991 , when they played Detroit, we went backstage and to their hotel. One word-Boring.

What were you expecting them to do, trash the hotel room? Snort ants? Shoot up Jack Daniels? It was 1991, they had probably cleaned up anyway by then.

Actually, you can get this in its entirety on the Steve Vai album: The Elusive Light And Sound Vol: 1.

Most guitar transcriptions erroneously notate this riff as a series of hammer-ons and pull-offs. In reality this isn't a totally one-handed riff. If you listen the recording closely, you will hear distinct picking for each note. Of course, once you master the riff, to play the song completely, you would have to be able to maintain this riff for the entirety of the song.

I don't have that good guitar ear, but I watched the video, and Angus plays with his left hand only (during the intro), waving frantically with his right - but later he picks each note, true. It's hard enough using just the left hand! (And keeping it up for the whole song - I'll get there some day!)
