"heart" was a great band and disappeared off the face of the earth ..

i saw them with Fleetwood Mac -- now that was a great concert ....

edit - heart changed into the "The LoveMongers" for many years , now changed back to "Heart" this last year ...

Were there 6 butts on that cover?

Any Yes fan is OK by me, even if you do like Drama best

Well, everyone likes something different, but the group must've got the message, as I don't remember them playing anything live from either the Tormato (aka 'Tomato') LP or Drama. Did they ever do Machine Messiah in concert? I don't recall if they did or not.

I haven't listened to much lately either, by anyone - getting busier while Xmas is approaching. You've got me wanting to listen to something of theirs now, too. Maybe after I go offline I'll dig out my Topographic CD. "Revealing Science of God" sounds like a good 20+ minute Yes-break 8)

I wished I could have seen Heart during there peak. Too young and when I was of age they became too 80's and became fluffy sounding. -garman

How 'bout Love Will Find A Way (yea, '80s..but still cool) - did you ever hear Stevie Nicks' version? Can't remember the reason hers got cut, but she says she did it a whole different way than Yes did it.

@ Goober - Big Nazareth fan here...though I tend to like their lesser known stuff a lot more, like Morning Dew, Holiday, Love Leads To Madness, This Flight Tonight...etc

@ Lordsmurf - I'm most certain you're referring to Bohemian Rhapsody (Waynes World...for you younger guys )

@ garman - Ann & Nancy were something to see in the '70s!!
Try to track down a boot copy of California Jam 2 - I was able to get a DVD of it off ebay.
Some other shows are out there as well...but I think it's mostly very early '80s (still doing their '70s stuff though)

Yeah, who'd figure Stevie to be a closet Yes fan? Although, some of the spacey lyrics of Anderson's fit right in with SN's style. I could just imagine the two of them getting together 8)

Isn't that the one that also has Bob Welch & Stevie doing Ebony Eyes? I think I have that on tape somewhere with an interview afterwards with them. Good performance, though my copy is very poor.

Yes...and the quality is very good!

I recorded it many years back (the concert is from March 1978)...it was repeated sometime in '79 or '80 (so mine didn't have the Interview)

The DVD is not the complete broadcast but has Ebony Eyes, 2 Heart performances (even though 3 were broadcast) along with a few other artists - cool lineup and great show!

Geez, I can't remember the weasely guy's name that did the interview for some reason, but I remember he asked Stevie what it felt like to be an "overnight success". Stevie got indignant and said "it wasn't overnight, we worked hard for many years". Bob Welch just kinda stood there and acted a little dorky when asked if he'd ever get back together with FM. I'm sure he regretted leaving when he did, just before they became really successful. C'est la vie.

This is in regards to "Bob Welch" did he not do a song in the 70's called sentimental journey. I was very young but i enjoy playing it now and then, kind of laid back feel to it.

Now that being sai,d how about a quintessential laid back tune any takers. -garman

My favorite Nazareth song is just the opposite of
    their 'Hair of the Dog'.

It's called Star. It's just a bit unusual coming from
that band. I don't think I've ever seen them perform it
    in any of their DVDs.

    Bob Welch:

With some help from Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood, and Lindsey Buckingham, he successfully re-released 'Sentimental Lady' (originally released in 1972 from the Bare Trees album) and had another hit with a song called 'Ebony Eyes' in 1978. Also assisting him on his albums was guitarist Todd Sharp.

Yes...Sentimental Lady is actually the title though 8)

He originally did that when he was in Fleetwood Mac...then he redid it in 1977 for his French Kiss solo album.
The Fleetwood Mac version is better, IMO...but both version get much airplay.

Semtimental Lady you say, well i should fix my Nomad. It's been wrong all this time.

You know the one thing I miss about 70's 80's rock is that high pitch scream during a song. Don't hear that anymore One day my friend the scream shall rise again. -garman

No vocals in this tune. But remember "Frankenstien" that was one of the greatest riffs of all time. The guitar solo absolutely blows me away. Don't see any new artist trying to re-hash that baby. -garman

    forgot, edgar winter group?

Sorry...BJ_M beat me to it :P

Nomad is a Stevie Nicks tune 8) (well...originally a Buckingham Nicks demo from the very early '70s that was widely circulated as a bootleg before finally being released in an updated version on Stevie's recent solo album, Trouble in Shangri-La (offically titled Candlebright ) - I know what you meant but thought I'd throw that reference in since it related to Fleetwood Mac

    forgot, edgar winter group?

you mean the ditty on " They Only Come Out at Night " "Undercover Man" was accually better on that album ... edgar was total 100% glam rock at that point on ...

that reminded me though of Jethro Tull 'aqualung' - somehow ..

I prefer her unreleased stuff (she has hundreds of songs that never made it onto an album)...or at least her stuff before it ends up on her albums (very big difference). At least that way it's easier to get into her released songs (they'll make a lot more sense anyway )

You can find a good bit of the unreleased stuff on fan sites.

For some reason, Lindsey tried to keep Stevie toned down for the Mac albums - she was always far more passionate and could blow people away when she was doing the songs her way in the studio and live.

Jethro Tull glam rock, never thought I'd hear that. Mind you aqualung was the only song I knew. Oh yeah I remember bungle in the jungle. That one was all right.
Glam rock - Bon Jovi, Motley Crew, Def Leoppard? (maybe). I'm sure there are tons out there -garman

Just about anything from Cheap Trick or Rush. See them live if you can. Their records suck compared to the live stuff.
