  1. I have 100 ProdiscF01 injet hub printable, 50 RitekG04 inket printable, and 50 RitekG04 non-inkjet-printable. My burner is Pioneer 106.

Here's the weird thing. All three of these disks worked fine for a long time. I've gone through about 15 of the prodisc, 40 of the Injet Riteks, and 45 of the Ritek non-printables. Nary a coaster in the lot (except when I would overload my system occasionally). then suddenly a couple of weeks ago, I started having problems. The Prodisc and Inkjet Riteks stopped working. I have had maybe one success in the last 10 burns on each. the non-inkjet riteks are still working wonderfully -- every one a success. I am burning on the same burner, same firmware, same spindles, same images, everything. The errors are discovered BEFORE any attempt to print on my R300.

Is there really likely to be this much variation among these manufacturers in the same spindle? Has anyone else had this problem? Do I really have to go with TY from now on if I want printable? Or is there some other solution?

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks.

I had similar problems twice. Once was because the DVD burner wasn't working right. The other time was caused by having 2 drives on the same IDE with both set to 'Master'.

RITEKG04 has had problems with stable quality since late 2003. PRODISCF01 is supposedly having issues on certain burners, may not be as good as PRODISCS03 or MMC02RG20 coded media.

I just received a 50 pk of Prodisc 8X DVD-R hub injet printables ProdiscF01 from meritline, and the first 4 out of 5 disc had all sorts of errors on them when I tested them. I burned them on my pioneer 108. The last time I've seen bad discs like that was on some Memorex CMC that I burnt on my NEC 1100 back a year and half ago. Never had any problems with Beall 4x DVD-R hub printables, might go back to them. As far as Ritek goes, Ritek G05 DVD-R 8X inkjet printables have never given me any problems.

  6. rr6966,

The G05 even work fine on your pioneer 108? I just ordered a 108 (cleaning the lens didn't do me any good) but was reading that it seems to work fine for G04 but not G05. It would be nice to know that the G05s are working fine with the 108.

On the other hand, I have been reading that ritek has been having consistency issues across the board for the last 11 months or so. Maybe I'll start shelling out the big bucks. TY are about $.75 each printable these days. More than I want to pay, but if I get a 90% success rate, they'll certainly be cheaper than what I'm currently doing.

And just when I had thought I had solved all my DVD burning issues...

    thanks.

    beartums,

Yes, the G05 have been working fine for me, but I have to agree with you. I might not buy another batch but go to the TY's, there is just too many bad things being said about the Riteks right now. However, I did try the Prodiscs because everybody seemed to be saying good things about them, but I had poor results. I will pay more for peace of mind. I like to burn a disc and forget about it, I don't like feeling I have to scan it for errors or wonder if the disc will fail a few months later. By the way, the Pioneer 108 is is an awesome burner I think you will be happy with it.

  8. Thanks rr6966. I'll stick with TY and I'm looking forward to the 108.
