    You are not bypassing the encoder. Normally the PVR buffers a few seconds of MPEG data while playing (ie, the player runs a few seconds behind the live video) to prevent stuttering. If you turn off this buffering you're still getting MPEG data, but you can get stuttering if the computer gets too busy with something else.

  2. I see, interesting.....How come interlace is still there then? The author of that tweak also states

    "This will bypass the decoder and result in a 0 sec image delay as well as faster chanel change. Very useful if you plan to hook up your gameconsole."

    I guess thats the decoder though....anyone have any ideas

    *confused*

    Yes there lag because of the hardware encoder that ture well I hate tell you this but even on sat, hdtv and digial cable there a is lag which not REALtime which only about 2 to 4sec lag.
    The PVR 250 and 350 do have REALtime mode but it dose work all that well.
    As what tipstir said why bother recording in AVI and transcording in MPEG later when you can do this in REALtime and be done with.
    150 vs 250
    Only added benefit with 150MCE you get FM tuner and is it much low cost but you not get a newer 45 button Remote and you do get an IR Blaster and few other small thing like with Retail 150 but then again you don't get an FM tuner with Retail card.

  5. When I first installed my PVR250 it deinterlaced (blend) by default. I prefer an interlaced display because my graphics card's TV out handles it perfectly, and I don't care what the video looks like on the computer.

    You can deinterlace to winTV2000 using the registry hacks listed at:

    http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/htpc.html

    He gives the setting to enable weave but if you change the BOBWEAVE registry key to 0 or 1 you get a blend deinterlace.

    BOBWEAVE=0 or 1 = blend deinterlace
    BOBWEAVE=2 = weave (interlaced)

  7. What capture software is recommend for the PVR 250. I just ordered one online.

    Presently I use VirtualVCR with my ATi TV Wonder. Can I continue to use VirtualVCR or is another app recommended for this card ?

    Thanks
