  1. 1. there are certain avi's that i can play on my computer but when i try to bring them over to the " video/audio" track it won go in the video track just the audio then wind up like 3 mins later saying it cant convert

    2. Certain avi files that i can watch on my computers will pull up the video part in vegas but for some reason wont convert the audio part.

    3. Trying to do the picture in picture trick from vegas 5 manual and followed it step by step (which are easy steps) but the top video wont scale down to small size and show the video underneith it.

    I believe the answer to questions 1 and 2 is the same. Vegas can have problems working with VBR MP3 audio. Try loading your clip into VirtualDubMod. If you get an error dialogue regarding improper VBR headers (or similar), click OK, then switch the audio to full processing mode and save out as an uncompressed wav file. Load the clip in Vegas, and cancel the build of the peaks (it may take a while to acknowledge). Load the wav file as the audio instead.

    As for question 3, I do the following (which may or may not match what you are doing)

    Add two clips to the timeline, one above the other.
    Make the clip you wish to be the small picture the top clip
    On the clip, click the "Track Motion" button
    Resize and reposition the clip using the dialogue that opens. You should see the changes happen in the preview window.

  3. yes thats how i am doing it...... do the comsition mode of the first or second one need to be set on something special????? my thing is where i resized the video it doesnt show it in the preview window as its resizing at all

    I don't touch the compositing mode for this. It should be left at the default (Source Alpha). It is the top clip, isn't it ?

  7. DAM.... NOW I SEE WHAT I DID!!!!! where u said the position had to be highlighted is where i got messed up..... i highlighted the other position spot and just type my " x, y" positions in ......... thanks guys...... im mad that vegas 5 manual didnt say that
