This has to do with Pinnacle's Moviebox USB Capture Device, which I purchased 2 years ago for $160.
I was going to put this in the "capturing forum", but didn't think it was that technical.
My moviebox is lost. My friend lost it, after the person who I let borrow it gave it to him to give to me. What is the solution here? He obviously was doing me a favor by being the middleman. Should I make him buy me a new one? Pay for half? None? Should I go for another device, perhaps cheaper (but equal recording quality)?
TIA

I have 2 Canopus ADVC-100's and luv 'em!! :P
(not cheaper than your box)
Don't worry about your lost box......just be careful
who you pick as friends!!
I rarely lend out my stuff anymore.
Oh, $160 2 years ago, probably worth about $45 today!
Maybe your lost box is on eBay.
Looks like your avatar has been in the sun toooooo long.

Its up to the guy who you lent it to, to ensure you receive it back. This bullshit about how he gave it to some mate to give to you, but he lost it so now you cant have it is one of the lamest excuses I have ever heard. Demand a replacement now !!
Buddha says that, while he may show you the way, only you can truly save yourself, proving once and for all that he's a lazy, fat bastard. -
No. The guy who was to deliver it to me...I've been best buds with since the fourth grade. So I want to be nice to him. I researched the advc100 when I bought the moviebox, damn thing still hasnt come down in price.
and yes, i could set the building on fire
You looking to sell one of your advc's goober? -
If you two are that good friends, I wouldn't ask him for anything. Friends do not lie to one another.
You never know, he may well volunteer to pay. I would if I lost a friend's kit like this, even though I was the middleman. -
Exactly how did he lose it? I mean did he set it on top of his car then go driving on the beltway, or something?

man this is a tough one.. BUT its easy who is responsible.. first YOU are for letting it out.. (nice or not) but the person that you gave it too is responsible for it for your stand point since YOU would still have this item if your "friend" didnt ask you to use it.. if you would have said no you would still have it.. if your "friend" would have given it back to YOU in YOUR hand you would also still have it.. its cut and dry.. it dont matter who he gave it to.. you dont have it as a result of his error in judgement.. NOW if the friend that actually lost it said to the first friend.. " hell im gonna see him tomorrow ill take it to him" then your second friend is responsible.. i would make a comment to both of them depending on the situation.. and see if the one that fits the proper situation fesses up and pays for it.. hes responsible for 100% of the replacement cost.. dont matter how he gets it..
