    Anyone knopw what the reason for the fraction is and the standard wasn't made to be simply 30.

    "Why 29.97 frames per second (fps) ? Orginal NTSC was 525 lines and 30 fps. To accomodate color, the decision was made to make some room for that at the expence of frames (NTSC code skips couple frames at the beginning of every minute) - that's why NTSC now has 29.97 fps ."
