  1. Theoretically, of course, could I rent a DVD from the Video store, copy it's contents to my hard drive, and then somehow convert it & burn it to a VCD that will play on my DVD player? What are the step-by-step instructions for this task???

    Thankz,

  2. Absolutely. It's illegal, but _theoretically_ you could

The step-by-step instuctions are here, click on 'Convert' on the left side. Or email me at davidvantrease@adelphia.net and I'll tell you the procedures I use, which I've had excellent results with.

My two bits of advice to get you started are

1 Find and download something called VCD galaxy - its an all in one program that does everything you will need. You can find it at http://www.afterdawn.com

2 When starting out do not try and create SVCDs (super video CDs) instead go for VCDs, they are much less hassle to create for the beginner

    Have fun

  5. Do I need a $500 DVD Writer or just a $50 DVD Reader?
