Hi,I have captured some TV shows from VHS which i want to transfer to DVD.
The programmes i have capped are MPEG-2,with a bitrate of 2500kbits/sec and they are 24 minutes long each.
Each file/episode is about 500 megabytes in size(Although when i put it in the Roxio DVD Builder project,it shows as being over 1GB)
As they are MPEG2,surely they wouldnt need to be re-encoded before being burned to disc,as MPEG2 is a DVD format isnt it?.(If thats wrong, let me know)
I captured them via USB using ADS DVD Xpress, which works pretty good, and it allows capture at varying bitrates(Unfortunately the software that comes with it is not that great,Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3,just for the fact that once i have made my disc project,it takes several hours to "render" before burning, even for a disc of 2 hours ,which is unacceptable to me.)
I want to create a 3 - 4 hour DVD consisting of 8 x 24 minute episodes(8 x 500 megs = 4GB,right?)..No matter what i try,Roxio DVD Builder will only allow about 90 minutes per disc,it always re-encodes them so that only about 4 episodes will fit.It seems that it is impossible to make discs longer than 90 minutes with Roxio. As i mentioned above, even though the file size is about 500megs,it doubles in size when placed in the Roxio DVD Builder project!!(Why?)
Until recently i was using a standalone recorder to make discs,(9 or 10 episodes per disc,no problem)but after having several machines go wrong, i wanted to try the PC way,but so far I'm not having much luck
So basically what i want to know is,is there something that will allow me to burn 8 or 9 of these episodes on a disc without having to wait half a day for it to encode ? I'm to the point now where i dont even care if i can make menus or not, just as long as i can get them on a disc without a long encode wait ,only to then find out the disc is dud for example !
Are there any versions of Nero which can do this?
thanks for any help or solutions you can offer,i couldnt seem to find anything specific in the forum

This is something you might want to try. There is a 30 day trial.

Thanks for the quick reply B.Looking at the screenshot provided, there is a function to create a menu,so that may come in handy. Can you actually burn from that program,or does it invoke a burning program like DVDDecrypter for example?
cheers -
Not sure about the burning part. I always use Recordnow Max to burn the created VIDEO_TS folder.

Ah i see, usually i use IMGtool to convert Video_TS folders to a disc image and burn with DVD Decrypter, but either way is good i guess !!
I think i will download the TMPGenc DVD Author and give it a try.
cheers
