CD Collection -> DVD ?

I'm interested in creating custom DVD's from my CD collection, and am seeking info on how to go about it. Video would be limited to stills of CD covers, looped during menus, and possibly also during playback. Menus would entail a main menu listing CD titles, and submenus for each CD, which allow playing individual tracks, or the entire CD.

For CD's where songs blend into each other, I would prefer to rip the entire CD into a single audio file, and index tracks during the mastering process.

I found a short tutorial wherein the author mentions originally having intended to attempt essentially what I've described, and having ultimately decided that it wasn't worth the trouble. What's the current concensus?

I believe the process can be largely automated, and would seek to write my own application, but have been frustrated by lack of access to the DVD Specification.

Thanks for the link -- naturally, I poked around a bit more, *after* posting my question, and came upon the same guide! It appears to explain exactly what I'm trying to do.

Thanks also for the DVD spec pointer -- I had not yet come across that.
