  1. Just some quick questions, i wanna back up some mp3's, wmv, mpegs, and programs etc. to dvd.

Just wondering in Nero what format should i choose? UDF, ISO

And do i need to archive the files with winrar first or can i just add them to the dvd how they are?

    Thanks/

    Hello,

I use roxio 6 creator classic. It has a data mode for dvd available. I assume your Nero version has something simialar. UDF is probably ideal. But look for a plain data mode.

You can burn files to DVD just like you would to CD. You just have more space. Not to contradict, but why would UDF be better than ISO? I thought some systems need extra drivers loaded to read UDF, but for ISO all you need is a DVD capable drive. Although there are probably other advantages that I'm not thinking of atm.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

    Hello,

Viral1 - sorry don't really know. I just use data mode in roxio. I'm not sure.

I just use nero express and select data dvd.

I hate to choose between all the options in nero.

nero also has a "backup" function.. all you do is start it and select the files.. it will verify then index then set to backup.. it will even span across DVDs if needed.. it will then verify all data to make sure its a 1:1 copy.. no need to arange into 4.3 gig sizes to fill disk does it for ya..

  7. I should try that backup option, for my raw DV tapes.

Personally though, so far, whenever I've backed things up I just hit up the nero wizard, burn a data disc, and bob's your uncle. UDF/ISO I have no freaking clue; whatever nero said to use. The benefit of this is that it's simply like an unreadable folder in windows explorer, and entirely 100% accessible in the future.

  8. Nero uses ISO by default if I recall correctly. Most people shouldn't have a problem using ISO because it works on PC and Mac

I think I've only seen it once - it was on some movie. I believe a cop said it, but I can't remember what movie. It stuck in my head as such a ridiculous saying that now I use it all the time. Plus, my wife really does have an uncle named bob, so it's especially opportune with her

I use ISO for data DVD\CD\HD-Burn discs and have never had any problems with that.

Ditto. I find all the different options confusing and Express has all the options I use readily available anyway.
    If in doubt, Google it.
