I got a movie file downloaded, it's a avi extension. I can watch it on the pc, but want to convert to mpg or somtin for the tv. I tried to open it with tmpgenc but it won't recognize the file. What do I do now to convert this file to somthing watchable?? If you need more info on the file let me know. Please check the attachment to see some info on the file. What can I do??

Thanks so much. That didn't help. Well, I just found out it's a xvid mpeg4
Ok...I have never touched a xvid, so got any good recommendation??

For something quick and easy, try TheFilmMachine. Or TMPGEnc will give you better quality, but you need to study the guides. Go to 'Convert' on the left, put in XVID and find a guide that suits your file and your software.

There is a second version of Xvid floating around lately. It's modified by somebody from the original xvid and alot of new downloads are using it now. Even if you don't have the mod version the file will play using the old codec, but you need the new one before trying to convert it. You can get it here:
