I have been lurking on this site for a coupla months now trying to determine what card & software would work best to capture TV movies to my PC and burn a DVD. I like old B/W movies, you know the stuff on Turner Classic Movies/TCM.
As a former Mainframe engineer when we had a problem we used tell the software guys "I need more Data".

But alas for once I have tooooooooooo much data!!! Soooo I ordered a Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Expert from Newegg. Gonna pop that bad boy in my Compaq Athlon 2000+ w/512mem, onboard graphics & sound, 60gig & 40gig drives and see what happens.

The Leadtek cards specifications appeared to be the most compatible and flexible at a price point I am comfortable with.

Soooooo, thank you all for your insight into the world of "video capture" as Betty Davis once said "hang on, its gonna be a long and bumpy ride!".

I'll let you know how it goes.

    Best regards

  2. Hi:
I bought a Hauppauge 250 card about a month ago and absolutely love it. I use SageTV with it and it is AMAZING!! Quality is FANTASTIC! I am in Canada so I use the zap2it plugin which is AWESOME. Use Videoredo to edit out commercials and TMPGEnc 1.5 to make DVDs. This is a GREAT combination of hardware and software. Very stable and great quality video.
