The 5005 doesn't have a stereo tuner, the 5101 does. Yes it nice to have All-Write-Features. Check the RS stores in CAN and see if they have it or Order it from NewEgg online or cross over the border to the USA and go buy one, that's if you're too far from the state or providence border.

    Ta..

    LITEON LVW-5101 DVD RECORDER
    DVD+R / DVD+RW

Well it's been a 9 months since purchasing the recorder from Sam’s Club, and I had found out yesterday, there was a newer firmware update 5/30/05 that fix some problems since the last one in 12/04. Major problem I was having since then was clock time was continously advancing looks like it's fixed and some other problems also!

    1. Update Firmware

    Firmware location: http://www.liteonamericas.com/us/Download/CE_firmware/5101/LVW5101v032.zip Download Here

    1. Download LVW5101v032.zip
    2. Burn it as a Data CDR
    3. Choose Finalize CD
    4. CD DISC TITLE: Mediatek
    5. Burn it
    6. Turn on the Liteon 5101 DVD Recorder
    7. Insert Firmware CD into your unit
    8. Wait for the CD to eject and remove the CD from the tray
    9. Tray should close and firmware update will continue until finish

Follow the unit onscreen message from there.

  3. Is your clock still working accurately? I had the same problem, and am still having to re-adjust my clock. Today, my DVD time is 6 minutes faster than my VCR time. I haven't adjusted my 5101's clock in about a month. I did upgrade my firmware by the way.

Well you know it worked! The clock had stayed on time but after a few weeks has pass it's not as bad as it was but it's off by 6 minutes ahead of all the other clocks. I don't use the Recorder on a timer, I just use it as a manually OTR mode. I was thinking about the new one sold at RS 5105 but since the tuner is still plague with problems I might just pass on it. At Costco they have the new mini one from Liteon that plays DivX and Xvid but no S-Video in or out.. Well I am still looking around for something else to use there...

For now I am have two PCs acting like DVR recording it's cheaper to do it that way then depend on the Liteon to get ready to record through the time with the clock advancing like it does. The unit is very good for what it can do.. I can play all the media well in my case DVD+RW on all PCs with DVD-ROM or Combo units without problems.

I record in the EP mode using high quality cables and connect directly to Comcast Digital Cable Tuner box through AV Rear 2 on the Liteon.

I hope they come out with another firmware but it might not fix the problem, sounds like it's more hardware related.. If I known I would have swapped it out for a newer model..

    Too late now..
