    Hello,
I recently bought a Pioneer DVR-108 (internal), but I cant seem to get the old drive out of my PC case. Does anyone have experience with a similar model. I'm thinking I can get the old one out (or at least some access to it if I open the right side of the case, but I have no idea how I'd do that. Thanks =)

Tried that.. doesn't say anything about replacing DVD drives, just Hard Drives / PCI cards. I tried calling for support, but Sony has decided that the time of their support staff is worth 20 dollars per call, so that's not happening.

Don't know why I even bothered.. just tried the online live support for 35 minutes. The guy took twenty minutes to find a page to show me how to open the case, even though I explained that the drive was inaccessible from the case when normally opened. When I told him this after he showed me the page, he told me to go to a local sony repair center to get it replaced. Nothing like knowledgeable help

maybe Capmaster can help you out because I think he has a Sony pc or had one if I recall.

you could take it to a local pc shop to have them take a look at it.

Yeah, it's just bothering me. I didn't even consider that this would be an issue when I purchased the drive. I'm sure there's just some silly trick that I'm just missing (at least I hope so).

In the off chance that someone else is having this problem, I just figured it out. You have to release the top panel. It's kind of tricky to remove it.. there are two release latches in the back of the computer. You have to pull them both up at the same time and sort of push the top of the computer backwards. You can't push from the front though, you have to put your hand on the top of the case and push it towards the back of the computer.

I'm sure no one will ever need this, but just in case, there you go =)

  9. The other problem is finding a drive tray that works with their bezel.

As for their tech support... give me a break. $20 dollars to talk to someone who didn't know $hit. Everything he suggested (re. drive replacement & OS upgrading) didn't work. Had to solve it myself. That was $20 well spent.
