  1. Of course like many others my tray/rollers have stopped working well and it doesnt not accept my cd's at all, just spits them right back out. How do you guys do your return. I got an extended warranty from staples, but staples told me b/c im still covered under epson, that i should call them.

Do you have to pay for shipping? It seems that poeple have returned their printers 3 or 4 times so i am thinking there is any easier way than sending it back.. having them look at it and trying to repair.. and then getting a replacement. I thought I was able to get a replacement w/out them tryin to repair.

If anyone knows, let me know please

When my first Epson C82 died while in warranty I called Epson service. They first made me run through a series of head cleanings even though I knew that wasn't going to cure the problem. They then sent me a replacement printer along with a UPS pickup sticker and told me to pack my unit into that box and call UPS for pickup or take to a UPS location. So it didn't cost me anything and I was only out a working printer for the few days the replacement took to get to me (from Indiana I think).

I did have to give them a credit card number - in case I was trying to get a free printer from them.

Same story here. I have two printers right now, but I have to send one back - free of charge for me, just use their sticker. I have to say, they couldn't fix the printer, but i was pleased with the customer service.

better than I got from newegg - they wanted me to pay to ship it back.

I'm not knocking newegg, i still love em.

That's a good point. My problem was with banding (in another post), and they were clueless as to how to fix it, so they just sent me another printer.

They will probably want to send you a new tray first.

Well I am about to get the R200. I have printed well over 1000 on my Epson 900 and it's still printing. When I get the new Epson, I will be using a CIS system.

They usually send a free tray. The replacement tray is more solid, better design. It should do it.

My C82 was a printing problem - two colors failed and no number of head cleanings would improve the printing. When you call Epson service they will first try to walk you through procedures they have to try to solve the problem. Just be empathic with them that the printer doesn't work and just sending a new CD tray probably won't fix the problem.
With me, after I humored them with doing a few head cleaning cycles, they gave up and said they would send a replacement. Of course they asked me for date of purchase, where I bought it and serial number. Replacement unit (refurbished I think) was here in about three days. Full set of new ink cartridges included. Has worked OK for me since - over a year. They wanted the installed cartridges returned with the unit. I told them that two were brand new, barely used and I really didn't want to lose the money for them. Finally they said OK, keep them. The swap really went well - better than I had thought it would.
But I don't like the printer for other reasons. It goes into a full head cleaning cycle just about every time it gets turned ON - seems to waste a lot of ink doing that. Would like to get a CD/DVD printing capable one, but not sure I want another Epson. Wish the Canon IP4000 US version came with the CD tray like it does in Europe and Australia. Maybe next year.

  10. How long have you had your printer? If you have to and can just wait a month and call Staples back.

  11. unfortunately it may be "user error"

I have r200 at work and r300 home and both probably have 500+ prints through them.. the 300 close to 1000 probably.

  12. overclockxp: what would waiting another month do? i bought my printer in may?

Anyone know how long the Epson warranty is for the printer? I am assuming as my Epson warranty is up ill call staples and tell them the problem. Then they will have to give me a new once, since they likely wont fix it like Staples will

    BBock727,
1 year warranty on my C82 - Epson site says one year for R200 if you are in US or Canada. You have a long wait until May. Just give Epson Service a call.

  15. I was meaning if you bought your printer last January or so you could just wait it out and cash in on the Staples rebate. But since you bought it in May you might as well call Epson and return it.

Here is another thought. When you call Epson for service, they will send you a refurbished printer to you and ask you to ship your broken printer back to them once you received the replacement. You might want to ask Staples if they will honor the extended warranty on the replacement (Since the serial number on the replacement do not match the printer you purchased from them.)
