    Not quite:
    POP mail is what Outlook Express uses - it connects to the mail server, and downloads the messages to your computer, then you can read them.
    IMAP is what Outlook (not express) is intended for - here, all mail remain on the server, and only the one you read at the moment get (temporarily) downloaded.
    WAP=Wireless Application Protocol = a slimmed down version of HTTP for cell phones.

    Gmail is still in beta, so you have to get an invite. There's a few guys in OT that have extra invites, if you check it out you could ask one to send you an invite that you could sign up with.

    Also note that Gmail has free POP3 access now, so you can use it with OE or with the web interface.
