Can someone please tell me the diference between these two. Can you also tell me would my dvd+r discs play on players which do not show this symbol.

Read this:

+r discs are a little less compatible on older players than -r. But they should play on NEARLY all players.
Check this link and enter your model number:
https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers
If it's listed people here have entered what types of dvds/cds the player will play.
