I'm a little confused. Checking some of my commercial DVD's (The Music Man is one), it states it is a 'Dual-Layer Format'. It plays fine however in my stand alone player.
Does this mean that to back-it-up, I would need dual layer disks and a dual layer burner?

I thought I was getting to grips with this DVD thing, but apparently not...

    Hello,

Those are dvd9 discs. If you have a single layer dvd burner you need to use dvdshrink or another transcoder to get it down to the size of a dvdr.

If you have a dual layer burner you can do a 1:1 backup with dvd decrypter.

BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A DUAL LAYER BURNER.

A single layer burner will work if you shrink it or split it to two discs.

Thanks yoda313 - I'll give it a try on my single layer burner just to get a bit of 'hands on' experience.

Didn't realise things were this complicated!

    Hello,

    No problem.

That's why sites like these are so important.
