  1. Quick question, can I put an 8x AGP card into a motherboard with a 4x AGP slot.

    Yes I think they are all backwards compatible, it drops the card down to 4x -or- is it the other way around.

  3. Yes, you can. I did this in my old Dell - the card will simply drop back to the AGP 4X standard.

    My MB only supports 4x.... what the difference? Throughput to the cpu?

    Can I put a 4X/2X AGP card into a 8X/4X slot?

    The 8X/4X slot is Version 3.0 AGP.

    I think I can do this, but it's the opposite of the original question, etc.

  6. Yes it is the same theory as the card will still only run at 4x as if you had an 8x card in a 4x slot.
