    Hi
I was looking through my vide card's settings (ti 4600) and I noticed that my refresh rate is set to 60 Hertz. Is that normal or should I make it higher? It goes to 85. My monitor is samsung Syncmaster 957mb.
    Thanks

Open Display Properties. Open your advanced properties and click on the Monitor tab. Check the box that says 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.' Set it as high as it'll go (or as high as it looks good to you).
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

the box 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.' was checked. By setting as high as it could go, you mean the frame rate?

I mean the refresh rate. Choose the highest value in the box (Hz).

Maybe it's just me, but when I set the CRT monitor to faster than 60Hz, the image seems to be crisper. I always use 70-75Hz. I've used 85Hz, but not sure if that improves anything.

frame rate LOL. I am doing 10 things at once. THans for your help. I set it to 75 and it does look crisper.
I said frame rate because i am trying to find out how to see my frame rate in HL2. Does anyone know the command by any chance?

  7. 60 HZ is bad for your eyes if you stay on computer for long periods of time.. 70 - 75 is optimal higher is even better if the monitor will handle it

I now run it at 85. I just updated my driver and now my refresh rate goes to 100. Seems like an overkill though.
