Thanks for everyone's help before. I am still looking for the best way to capture a 30 second clip off of a commercial dvd. I downloaded DVD shrink and took the .vob file and tried to convert it to a mpg file and an avi file and with either format when I dropped it into adobe premiere i lost the sound because the dvd was in ac3 format. I could use dvd decryptor but i would have to do the whole dvd (to my understanding). I just want a 30 second snipit of the movie. Any other suggestions or ways that I can get my DVDshrink clip work (with volume) in premiere.

Thanks in advance for your help

So convert the AC3 out to PCM WAV.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    Thanks for the reply.
How do i capture the sound seperately?
Do I capture the sound off of the dvd or the vob file that is created from the dvd? If I have to capture it off of the dvd then won't it be a bear to sync the 2 clips if the start and stop points are different if i have to use 2 seperate programs?

    Thanks

What I would do from the very very start is use DVDShrink in reauthor mode and use the start/stop mode to isolate the 30 second clip you require. Do you just need the 30 second clip and that's it, or do you need to do further editing on top of that ?

    If in doubt, Google it.

I have obtained the 30 second clip from dvd shrink and found that its only option is the ac3 option. I want to take that clip and drop it into premiere pro to put it into a family video that I am making for christmas.

I tried to follow the thread you posted and it is much appreciated, there seems to be alot of options. I wanted to find the most streamlined way of doing this.

Thanks so much to this group it has been a savior for projects past.

    Thanks
    Jeff

BESWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET. Demux the MPG, then convert the AC3 to WAV.
    If in doubt, Google it.
