like the dodge cornet , torsion bar font suspension -- one tough car ... only the polaris was stronger and bigger .. we had 2 of the dodges as cornet station wagons .. one had a 400 and the other had a 440 full pack .. i used them on sky trips ... you could hit 120mph on snow - with a trailer , with 6 people (teens) on board and still drive with one hand while the other was holding a "beverage" .... we never used snow tires either , just those new then michelin radials ....Originally Posted by Heywould3"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)

come to think of it -- the newport was the polaris --

It is, (or it's supposed to be) a Moskvich-2140. The design was probably bought from Lada.Originally Posted by BJ_M

it is new than a 70 - as 70's had dual head lamps .. im guessing 72 .... could even be a Rebel , if it is - it is a rare car ..
those cars were also very reliable like the eagles ... AMC had some dogs , but they had some very good models also .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

I paid $350 for this car in 68. It was 5 years old with 30K on it. The bonnet opened from the wind screen side.
Wonderful driving experience except that the Super Beatle would eat it for lunch.
