After the twitching and pissing myself subsided, I would find something else that would take up just as much of my time ....maybe even something useful

Wait for Al Gore to re-invent it

Longest I'd gone at a time without having Internet access was a month (not counting the years before I first got online)

I would be able to manage without it...I'd have a harder time giving up the computer altogether though.

I'd actually get more accomplished if I didn't have access

Reminds me of the Y2K doom and gloom scare!

Pulling the plug on the internet would be good and bad.

Bad for your reason, and other obvious reasons.

Good because people would actually have to interact
with each other again, in person.

No, maybe not. They would still be able to stick
a cell phone in their ear.

What if DSL went down? Ooops....Das ist Verboten!!!

Not if you could FAX or dial up directly to a computer (I did that right before I first got 'net access) - not as fun...but still works.

If there was no net, NC would actually have to work.

  17. I will take this question seriously:

    - I would find myself struggling for entertainment
    - My communication with friends would suffer - Skype, MSN and e-mail are all vital to me
    - I need a lot of information as fast as possible as a student: no Internet means much more difficulty with research
    - Again, studies would suffer since lecture PowerPoint presentations are available online - without them revision would be a lot harder
    - Ever got a question? What's your first instinct? Search engine! How would you feel if you couldn't access the answer within seconds?
    - I couldn't do my shopping. All the bulky, heavy stuff is ordered online - I can't manage six crates of Stella Artois on the bus!. So are electronics and high-order goods - cheaper rates online.
    - Banking and bills all done online.
    - PC needs the Internet to stay healthy - virus updates, Windows updates and so on.
    - Talking of PCs - you can download freeware kit etc. to do what you need within a minute - where would you get utilities without? Wait for them? Pah!

I'm sure I could think of more.

Damn good question - makes you think.

In all likelyhood, I would become an ukulele and guitar virtuoso and be built like a tank.

No internet = Me playing my instruments more and lifting in my idle time. I'd also have no porn on demand, so all the energy from that pent up frustration would have to go somewhere.

How did they build the pyramids without laptops for e-mail and cell phones?

I mean moving a 100 ton stone is nothing compared to trying to keep up with all of the change orders
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?
